Santa Monica

This past weekend my boyfriend came down to visit and I decided we needed to shake up our routine. We always make a point to go to Disneyland but I thought we needed a change of pace, so this weekend we took a trip to Santa Monica.
The weather lately has been really warm (which makes my San Diego-native roommate happy but makes me, a San Francisco-native, very displeased) so going to Santa Monica made sense since it would be cooler than Pomona and the pier is fun to walk down!
I'm so in love with these two houses on the beach. I'm in love with the colors and the fact that their right next to each other!
The Cirque du Soleil show Totum is currently playing near the pier. If you get the chance, you should see the show; it's spectacular!  I also adore the yellow and blue tents.
We were lucky enough to witness a blast from the past: Michael Jackson! Some cute kids were singing and dancing to songs on the pier. I'm impressed with their costume dedication for "Thriller".

The Santa Monica beach is really huge. It's really neat how far out you could see.

The sky was incredibly clear. Gorgeous doesn't even begin to cover how beautiful the day was.
To end the trip, we went to one of my favorite restaurants called Sunny Blue. They serve a wide variety of onigiri! Onigiri, for those of you who don't know, are Japanese rice balls filled with stuff. Usually it's fish or salty plum but this place adds goes wild and adds whatever they want! My favorites are Tuna Mayo and Miso Mushroom.
If you're ever in the area, you should check it out. I promise you won't regret it!

Hope everyone is enjoying their weather, whatever type it may be!

Lake Arrowhead

Last Saturday my friends and I decided to drive up the mountains to Lake Arrowhead. It's been really hot in the valley recently so we wanted to go somewhere cooler!

It took about an hour to get from Pomona all the way up the mountain but the view made it completely worth it.

It got really windy as we got near the top!

My favorite part about driving through the mountains is the winding road. Something about it gets me really excited to reach the top!

The long drive was completely worth it. Since tourists come to the lake during the summer, the village was quiet and peaceful. It was more relaxing than we could have hoped for.

There were so many ducks on the lake! I was sad we didn't have any food for them. One mallard even came on deck to say hello!

I got really excited when I saw this restaurant sign...

but sadly they were closed (an excuse to go back!) so we found a cute diner that served an amazing smoked salmon pizza.

View from our booth window!
The village was adorable. They had a whole set of attractions for children!

And of course, some for us "adults".

We also spent a good chunk of our time in the village playing games in a toy store. All in all it was an amazing way to spend a Saturday.

Hope you all had lovely weekends!
