Anniversary Weekend Part 2: Playing Dress-up and the Yellow Deli

Happy Friday everyone! Hope you all have some awesome plans! This post is going to be about part 2 of my Valentine's day weekend: the Alice party and the road trip!

My roommate got invited to an Alice in Wonderland themed birthday party; the invitation said "dress to impress". Now my roommate and I like to cosplay so any themed party automatically means dressing up but adding "dress to impress" on the invitation was like a challenge. She decided to go as the Mad Hatter from the Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland and I decided to go as the Cheshire cat from the American McGee's Alice video game. In case you aren't familiar with these characters, here's what they look like:

Here's what the final product looked like:

Heather as the Mad Hatter, me as the Cheshire Cat, and Adrienne as the White Rose
We had a lot of fun getting ready. Sadly the party did not live up to our expectations. We were the only ones who dressed up so we looked a little out of place, though this never bothers us. We were mostly sad that we didn't get to see any cool costumes (and be 100% sure that ours were the best). We had fun scaring people though!

Sunday we went to this restaurant in Oceanside called the Yellow Deli.

This deli serves food that is grow or raised at The Morning Star Ranch. All the people who work there are a part of a self-sustaining community and all the profits from the restaurant go towards that community.

The most amazing restroom door.
The interior is simply beautiful. The entire vibe of the restaurant is homey and warm, not to mention the food is INCREDIBLE! It's open almost 24/7 (with the exception of Saturday) so if it wasn't an hour and a half away from where I live, I'd be there every day.

Banana milk
Egg and cheese sandwich and cream cheese pie with strawberries
I also HIGHLY recommend the Yoga Vista Special! If you are ever in Oceanside, check it out!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Anniversary Weekend Part 1: Disneyland and a Homecooked Meal!

Hey everyone! I hope you all had an amazing Valentine's day! I know it can be a hard holiday for a lot of people but I believe as long as you spend it with someone you love, whether or not it's a significant other, you have a reason to be happy. It's one of my favorite holidays because it is not only Valentine's day but also my anniversary with my boyfriend! He came to Pomona from San Francisco and he stayed for a few days. Since we had a lot of adventures during this weekend, I'm going to split it into two parts. Here is part 1: Valentine's day! We decided to go to Disneyland and then I was going to make us dinner.

My boyfriend and I are a big fan of Iron Man so we made a point to take a look at the exhibit in Tomorrowland!

I'm still amazed at Disneyland's attention to detail. I see something I didn't notice before every time I go!

My roommate stayed home for Valentine's day so I made sure to pick her up some presents.

Once back at home, I made vegetarian chicken pot pie and angel food cake with whipped cream and berries. It was my first time making something completely from scratch in my new apartment kitchen!

It was definitely a fun start to what ended up being a busy weekend! Stay tuned for part 2! I hope you are having a great Wednesday.

Decorating the Apartment: My Bedroom

This January I moved into my first apartment! It was a bit of a pain but it was worth it in the end. My roommate and I still aren't quite done decorating yet, but I thought I'd share what I've done with my room. I accumulated quite a bit of stuff from my study abroad experience, so I was very excited to put it all up!

The first thing you'll see when you enter my room is my bed! I know the Feng Shui is off but it's the only place in the room my bed will fit well. While I was abroad, I collected postcards from everywhere I visited. I have some from Berlin, Dublin, Edinburgh, Barcelona, Interlaken, and (of course) Paris.

My favorite beaver slippers!

I tend to keep a lot of things on my bedside table so It can be a bit messy but I kinda like it that way.

The two pictures on the side I bought in Paris and the one in the middle I got in Marseilles. I was in a beautiful town called Cassis and fell in love with this painting at first sight. It's of a mountain in the Alps!

I painted this bureau before I moved in. Originally it was a very bright (and in my opinion) ugly green color. Purple is way more my style! I love these lights, but unfortunately I bought them in Paris and have yet to buy a converter so I can't plug them in. I'll try to take a picture with them on once I get a converter.

Upon leaving my room, you will see a Paris metro map on the back of my door!

Hope you guys are having a great hump day!
